We are all feeling the sadness over flight 3407, we have lost family, friends and neighbors. Each of us, in some way, feel touched by the tragedy if only by being a Western New Yorker. But being from this area, I know that if anyone can make a difference in the face of adversity, we can.
Extreme Home Makeover is looking for a worthy family to help build a home in WNY. The Weilinski family, who not only lost their husband and father, but their home in this horrible tragedy, could be helped immensely. We know that a house is just four walls, but after losing everything in the blink of an eye, I believe just to see the outpouring of love and support from your community can begin the healing process if but in a very small way. Please join me in nominating this family.
All I’m asking is that you copy and paste the following description of this family in a new email and forward to CASTNEWYORK@gmail.com
“I would like to nominate Karen and Jill Wielinski of Clarence, New York. Their home was devastated in the crash of Flight 3407 on February 13, 2009. Their husband and father was killed. A new home won’t heal their pain but in may give them hope to face another day. See below:
Douglas C. Wielinski, 61, an engineer and veteran, was believed to be in the dining room of the family’s Clarence Center home when the airplane crashed into the house. Wielinski’s wife, Karen, was able to escape by crawling out of the family room in the rear of the house. His daughter, Jill, was blown out of the house.”
The deadline is February 20th.
