Friday thoughts

Sharing some Friday morning thoughts today…

Week one of my kids in charge is ending! I shared how my guys are taking turns running the house in Leadership in Action and let’s say it has been a learning experience for us all—yes, I will be sharing this soon!! Tim, my 17 year old is up next starting tomorrow.

Blessed and able to bless! I have 2 huge trees that have been dying in my front yard. Estimates for removal…$4000-5000!! Monday morning a guy from the power company stopped by and said they have a brand new plan for tree removal of ‘dangerous trees’ and asked if I wanted them to completely remove both trees–for free!!! YES!!

So I prayed that I could turn and bless someone else with the wood (worth over $1000!). Yesterday not only did I meet a new neighbor, but they are a young family with one little girl and another due in December and heat exclusively with wood all winter!! And…he can grind the huge stumps too!!! Awesome!

Another “coincidence”?? Monday morning was also a particularly difficult “teen” day for Tim. He is a great young man, working his way through transition into adulthood, so struggles are expected. I’ve been praying for something to get him to see his potential and help him through this. That afternoon while outside, my neighbor (single mom of 3 girls and 1 boy) asked if Tim could be a “big brother mentor” to her 11 year old son!!! Tim was excited and agreed!! This may be just the right thing!! Awesome!!!

Just an observation…I realized last night that every time I try something new I bomb at it, but then I’m over it and can relax. I think I put too much focus on me and worry about failing that I set myself up and end up doing just that! So if you were at Thursdays last night–next week’s announcements will be better…the stuttering and fumbling for words won’t be quite so prominent!!

I love racquetball!! I’ve been playing consistently with Justin and although I’ve won a couple of games, it’s only been when he’s not at his best. I’m getting better and I WILL win!! (I’m waiting for him to put his latest injury though on his blog–hey, if you can’t beat ‘em…hit ’em in the face! ;) )  Stop, it really was an accident….
