This is a great twist on a familiar poem:
Butt Prints in the Sand
(writer unknown)
One night, I had a wondrous dream;
One set of footprints there was seen.
The footprints of my precious Lord,
But mine were not along the shore.
But then some stranger prints appeared,
And I asked the Lord, “What have we here?”
“Those prints are large and round and neat,
But, Lord, they are too big for feet.”
“My child,” He said in somber tones.
“For miles I carried you alone.
I challenged you to walk in faith,
But you refused and made me wait.
You disobeyed, you would not grow,
The walk of faith you would not know.
So I got tired and fed up,
And there I dropped you on your butt,
Because in life, there comes a time,
When one must fight and one must climb,
When one must rise and take a stand,
Or leave some butt prints in the sand.”

LOL, that’s hilarious!!! Here via the party!
This is funny, but it’s also true that the Lord wants us to be walking on our own at times, too. This reminds of my kids – I willingly carry them if they’re tired or sick or just need a helping hand, but if they’re throwing a tantrum or just refusing to walk, I get fed up in a hurry!
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog, Rindy! As promised, I would love to send you some notecards. Please email me at: dkafeeneyATyahooDOTcom
What a great variation on the Footprints in the Sand poem! I agree with Revka’s comment!
Hi Rindy,
I just wanted to say thank you for popping by my blog and leaving comments there every now and again, its comforting to know there are people out there reading it!
I am not really a Christian, but I still liked the sentiment behind the poem, sometimes you do have to stand and fight not expecting other people (or God) to do it for you, plus it made me laugh which is always a good thing!
Take Care Emma
That was funny. I really enjoyed reading this post.
That was good…and funny…true too.
We do have to make so many stands in our lives, I’m glad that God is with us through it all.
I really enjoyed this post it made me laugh and I was wondering if I could use it on The Prayer Journal in the blog there? please let me know. just email me thank you
