One More Day

A little poem I wrote…for all those who are hurting or struggling. There is hope in Jesus…keep pressing on.

One More Day
A child on the playground
Hiding all her pain
Masking all the feelings
Disguising all the shame

She knows she must be different
Something not quite right
Compared, criticized, rejected
Cries herself to sleep each night

A hand comes down upon her
Never right, she’s always wrong
Can’t let them know they hurt her
Take it, don’t feel it, be strong

Shut out all the feelings
Mighty walls built to stand
Surviving each and every day
Anyway she can

How does she wake up
And face another day?
Deep down she keeps believing…
There is no other way

Where is hope, where is faith
Amongst all this despair?
She knows He says He is with her
He promises to care

To feel a hug, to know such love
Not her, she’s pushed away
Stand on her own, feel all alone
And pray…one more day

Warm embrace comes
She feels it, hold tight
Little chips in the armor
A little hope in the night

He shows His face, holds her hand
She knows that He is real
He knocks down walls, softens her heart
He is helping her to heal

New paths, roads to explore
She’s learning to trust, to obey
The One who loves and cares for her
And is guiding her His way.

A leap forward, a step back
The journey seems oh so long
But He loves her, accepts her
And finally…she knows she belongs

  7. This is beautiful Rindy! Seems to describe your experiences (and many other children’s) and feelings so vividly. Isn’t it amazing what a great God we serve and how wonderful it is that He sees this suffering child and loves him/her unconditionally!!

  8. Thank you, Rindy, for putting that into such beautiful and moving words.
