A few great words I came across:
“Preach the gospel always, if necessary use words”….St. Francis of Assisi
From The Irresistible Revolution: living as an ordinary radical …. some of us have worked on Wall Street, and some of us have slept on Wall Street. We are a community of struggle. Some of us are rich people trying to escape our loneliness. Some of us are poor folks trying to escape the cold. Some of us are addicted to drugs, and others are addicted to money. We are a broken people who need each other and need God…
Something to think about…

I agree with St. Francis of Assisi–that our lives should be lived with integrity. I also believe we’re being disobedient to the Great Commission if that’s all we do to spread the Gospel.
It’s scary to talk to someone about the gospel. But if we really believe that without Jesus they’re going to go to hell, how can we not talk to them?
We should learn what to say to people, and go out and do it.

Thanks for the heads up on the book…
It’s interesting how St. Francis’ words are both the biggest challenge and can be interpreted as the biggest excuse for not sharing the truth with someone…
Those are both interesting comments about the quote. My interpretation and intent was that we should be living the gospel and people would know that we are Christians by our actions. Yes, we should share with verses, and “words” also, not find an excuse not to. However, many are intimidated by someone who approaches them with only Biblical words, or who “talk the talk but don’t walk the walk”. And on the flip side of that, many are hesitant to share their faith at first and this quote shows that everyone can be His “hands and feet”.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Wow! What a coincidence! Someone just shared that Last Sunday!!!
I love to read…I’m an English teacher for goodness sakes. I’ve read lots and lots of books.
That is my favorite book. It’s challenging and true…a tough combo.
Such good words. Thanks.
This and the previous post remind me of some of the fundamental concepts of my own personal faith. I believe God put us all here to love each other and to look after each other.
Thanks for the reminders.
